This is the combination of 3 x cartridges. To start the water filters down through the Filteroo® fast flowing carbon block cartridge. The carbon media used will greatly reduce herbicides, pesticides, chlorine, chloramines, taste & odour from the water. So you get nice tasty drinking water for your home. Carbon is internationally recognized by institutions that provide quality assurance on safe and pure drinking water. A great asset for any Australian water filter.

As the water passes through the first carbon filtration stage it exits & flows into the fluoride removal cartridge. Here the fluoride, arsenic, lead & heavy metal ions are removed. The water continues on its journey through the fluoride removal cartridge which also has granular activated carbon in the bottom of the cartridge. Carbon is a fantastic way to clean & polish up water so it tastes the best it can. The carbon inside this cartridge does just that, after the fluoride filtration the last carbon polishes up the water so you get sweet lovely tasty water every time.

Quality water filtration with the minerals Retained

This carbon block gravity cartridge is 200mm high x 60mm wide in diameter. It is the perfect solution for any Filteroo® Steel gravity water filter which is used to filter treated city tap water.

Long-Lasting Service Life Of 12 Months

Cartridges are very easy to replace and only have to be changed over as required, or every 12 months, whichever comes first. They have a recommended maximum life of 2000 litres.

Due to the filtration of particulate & sediments from the water during use, the flow of water from the filter may reduce over a period of time.

If your cartridge water flow rate slows down it is normally only because the outside of the cartridge has blocked with fine sediments. These sediments do build up and can slow the flow rate over time dependant on the volume of sediments in the water supply used to fill the top tank.

To restore the water flow to its normal level, simply remove the cartridge and follow the backwashing instructions to backflush the cartridge and push sediments back out of the cartridge.

If after backwashing the water flow is still slow, you can also get some 100 grit sandpaper or a new Skotchbrite scour pad & scrub the outside of the cartridge under a flowing tap, ensuring that the open-ended thread does not contact the water to avoid contamination. Scrub harshly as this cartridge is quite thick & can be scrubbed clean many times.

Cleanliness is important, wash your hands before handling the cartridge and take care to ensure that no contamination of the cartridge occurs during cleaning. Use a glove or similar so your hands don't touch the cartridge as much as possible.

    Filteroo® MAX Fluoride removal cartridge

The Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridges are a fantastic way to remove unwanted fluoride from your drinking water. As the water in gravity water filters flows very slowly through the cartridge, the water has plenty of contact time with the media inside the cartridge, which is how to remove the maximum amount of fluoride from water.

These fluoride removal cartridges are made by Omnipure in the USA. They are very easy to connect directly onto the thread of your Filteroo® rain & city water gravity carbon block cartridge. The cartridge is designed to hang down inside the bottom tank of your Filteroo® Steel gravity water filter.

PLEASE NOTE: Filteroo® Max Fluoride removal gravity cartridges do not fit Black Berkey cartridges. They do not fit inside the Filteroo® blue with the 5.5” carbon gravity cartridge, nor do they fit inside the Filteroo® ceramic gravity filters.

For Fluoride removal for the Black Berkey cartridges please use the PF-2 cartridge.. Filteroo® Blue and the Filteroo® ceramic gravity water filters please use the Ultraceram ceramic/carbon gravity cartridge.

    Test Results

    • Arsenic
    • Some heavy metals

    Lifespan

Each Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridge lasts for 2000 litres. So if you have 2 x cartridges installed into your Filteroo® Steel gravity water filter you have 4000 litres of use. 2 cartridges will provide 10 plus litres every day of the year. We recommend you replace each cartridge after 2000 litres or every 12 months which ever comes first.

    Maintenance

If your water flow slows down, or when scrubbing or backwashing your Filteroo® rain & city water gravity carbon block cartridges, you can use the flushing washer supplied & backwash the Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridges also to keep the flow rate the best it can be.

NEVER WASH WITH DETERGENTS OR SECOND-HAND SCOURER PADS.

If the filter is left to stand for more than 3 - 4 days without use, it is recommended that one litre of water be allowed to flow through the cartridge to waste before using.

    Installation

When installing or replacing any water filtration cartridges, ensure you know what you are doing or have a qualified person to help you or contact us for assistance. Please find paper instructions inside every cartridge box.

      • Cleanliness is important. Wash hands before handling the cartridge and take care to ensure that no contamination of the cartridge occurs during assembly.
      • Pre prime the cartridge as instructed in the priming instructions..
      • Use a glove or similar so your hands don't touch the cartridge as much as possible.
      • Remove the locking nut & leave the sealing washer over the threaded stem.
      • Place the filter candle thread through the hole in the upper section of the top housing from the inside out and secure it with the wing nut.
      • Do not overtighten.
      • Ensure that the outlet tap is in the off position.
      • Fill the upper chamber with cold water and allow this to filter down through to the lower section.
      • It is recommended that this first supply of filtered water is thrown away, as it may contain material washed from the filter element.
      • Some black carbon fines may be seen when first using but this is harmless & will stop fast.
      • Fill the upper chamber again, open the outlet tap and allow this water to run to waste again.
      • We recommend flowing at least 12 litres of water through the cartridge to waste until it is tasty and flowing clear.

Installing the Filteroo® Max Fluoride Removal Gravity Water Filter Cartridge

    1. Remove the plastic wrapping whilst keeping the cartridge clean. (Wash the cartridge outside if required before removing the thread end caps)
    2. Remove the end caps from each end of the cartridge.
    3. Sit the rubber flushing washer over the hole on 1 end of the cartridge. Hold the cartridge and  washer as you press it up against the tap spout to get a good seal. Gently turn on the cold water and allow the water to flow into the cartridge & then out the other end to flush the fine particles out of the cartridge. Flush continuously for 1 minute.
    4. Turn the cartridge around and repeat above. Flush for a further 1 minute & ensure that  the water flows clear. Repeat this process for all the Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridges you intend to install.
    5. Once the cartridge is flushed, lift the top tank off your Filteroo® Steel bottom tank & sit the top tank upside down on the bench top. The Filteroo® MAX Fluoride Removal cartridge screws directly onto the exposed carbon cartridge threaded stem already installed. (Note - Only 1 end of the cartridge has a thread). The cartridge MUST be installed by the threaded end. Screw on the cartridge gently ensuring you do not cross the thread. Tighten until firm. Do not over tighten.
    6. Once the Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridges have been installed, place the top tank back onto the bottom tank. The fluoride cartridges hang down inside the bottom tank. Now fill the top tank with water and allow that water to filter down through both the Filteroo® carbon cartridge & the Filteroo® MAX fluoride removal cartridges.
    7. Once the top tank water has emptied into the bottom tank. Discharge that water to waste or onto the garden.

The filter is now ready for use.

    Fully Disposable Cartridges

You can break up the old carbon cartridges with a hammer into small pieces and put the crushed carbon into the garden, then place the plastic end caps into the recycling bin. Or, simply wrap your worn-out cartridges up in old newspaper and place them into your rubbish bin.

The fluoride max cartridge can be wrapped into old newspaper & thrown in the bin.
